At around 0600 hours Newark, NJ firefighters responded to 64 Park Ave. on a report of smoke in the building. When Engine 15 arrived they reported fire on the first floor of a 3 story wood frame multiple dwelling. Members of Engine 15 and Engine 9 stretched several handlines and began working on the fire. Ladder 7 and Rescue 1 members removed a female occupant from the rear of the structure. She suffered from smoke inhalation. Firefighters treated her until EMS arrived. A second alarm was transmitted due to rescues being made and the exposure problems. Newark firefighters made a quick knockdown of the fire bringing it under control within 15 minutes. The Arson Squad was called to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire. Photos By: Adam Alberti
