ELIZABETH, NJ 3RD ALARM 723 SUMMER ST. 12/25/11 : At approximately 0400 hours on December 25, 2011 while companies were operating at 446 East Jersey St., Mutual Aid units covering the city responded to a reported fire at 723 Summer St. Upon arrival they found heavy fire showing from the rear of a 3 story wood frame building that housed the Vasco Da Gama Restaurant on the first floor and apartments above. Fire ran up the rear of the building rapidly and raced through the 3rd floor and roof. All companies evacuated the building as heavy fire conditions took hold of the structure. Clark and Roselle Engine Companies used their deck guns and Kenilworth Tower used its ladderpipe to knock down the fire. Several outside lines also operated. The B-side wall suffered a partial collapse during the fire and the structural integrity of the building was compromised. The fire took approximately 1 hour and 3 minutes to bring under control. The cause of the fire is under investigation. It is unknown if all occupants escaped the fire.

ELIZABETH, NJ 3RD ALARM 446 EAST JERSEY ST. 12/25/11 : At around 0200 hours on December 25, 2011 Elizabeth, NJ firefighters responded to 446 East Jersey St. after receiving multiple calls reporting a structure fire. Upon arrival companies found heavy fire in a 3 story occupied multiple dwelling. 2nd and 3rd Alarms were transmitted to battle the flames. Mutual aid units assisted at the fire which took almost two hours to bring under control. Multiple master streams, deck guns, a ladder pipe were used to control the blaze. No injuries were reported at the scene and all occupants are believed to have escaped the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

HARRISON, NJ 2ND ALARM 2ND ST AND RAILROAD AVE 12/24/11 : Harrison, NJ - At around 0600 hours firefighters responded to a building fire at 2nd St. & Railroad Ave. Upon arrival they found a vacant 2 story wood frame involved in fire. Mutual aid brought to the scene from Kearny and East Newark Fire Department. Due to the condition of the building an exterior attack was used to battle the fire. A collapse zone was set as multiple master streams operated. The cause of the fire is under investigation but considered suspicious. It took firefighters almost an hour to bring the fire under control.

ELIZABETH, NJ 7-ALARM FIRE 819 NEWARK AVE 12/22/11 : Elizabeth, NJ firefighters continue to battle a multi-alarm blaze at the former Burry Buscuit factory at 819 Newark Avenue. The fire started on 12/21/11 in the late afternoon and these photos were taken just before 0700 hours on 12/22/11. Multiple mutual units from numerous departments are working on the fire which continues to burn at this time. 12/23/11 Elizabeth firefighters and mutual aid units continue to operate at the fire. The fire is being called an 8-Alarm fire. The deep seated fire continues to burn however it is not as out of control as previous. Demolition crews were at the scene surveying the building to being to open it up so fire fighters can access the flames. In the meantime it remains a defensive attack. The fire has been deemed suspicious in nature however the exact cause is unknown. All Photos by: Adam Alberti

WEST ORANGE, NJ 2ND ALARM on HIGH ST. 11/28/11 : Just before 6:00 A.M. West Orange firefighters responded to a house fire on High St. Heavy fire was showing from the 2nd floor on arrival. A second alarm was transmitted bringing mutual aid to the scene from the City of Orange and Montclair. Fire fighters made an agressive interior attack and knocked the fire down quickly. An investigation was conducted and the fire appeared to be accidental. No injuries were reported at the scene.

CLIFTON, NJ 2ND ALARM 90 RUTHERFORD BLVD 11/12/11 : At around 0630 hours the Clifton Fire Department was dispatched to 90 Rutherford Blvd. on a reported structure fire. Upon arrival Clifton Police advised dispatch of a working fire in progress and rescued one occupant from the dwelling. Police advised firefighters of a possible 2nd victim in the dwelling. Engine 4 arrived and stretched an 1.75 inch hoseline in to extinguish the fire on the first floor. When Clifton Ladder 2 arrived a primary search was started and firefighters located and removed the second victim an adult male who was unresponsive. Clifton Fire Department EMS and Paramedics from Monoc worked to revive the man but were unable to. He was pronounced DOA at the scene. The first occupant that was arrested was placed under arrest by Clifton Police for reasons unknown. One Clifton firefighter was also treated at the scene by EMS for minor injuries. The fire was placed under control around 0700 hours. The cause of the blaze is under investigation by the Clifton Police and Fire Prevention Bureau.

RANDOLPH, NJ 150 FRANKLIN ROAD 11/7/11 : At around 11pm on November 7, 2011 Randolph firefighters were dispatched to 150 Franklin Road on a structure fire with people trapped. Upon arrival companies found heavy fire showing on the second floor of the 2.5 story wood frame dwelling. A female escaped the fire and was trapped on the porch roof. She was safely removed. Firefighters from Denville assisted Randolph Companies and the Dover Fire Department provided rapid intervention. The fire was controlled within one hour. The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation.

HOPATCONG, NJ DWELLING FIRE 35 BROOKLYN-STANHOPE RD. JULY 24, 2011 : July 24, 2011 (1830 Hours) Hopatcong firefighters responded to a call for a possible house fire at 35 Brooklyn-Stanhope Road behind the Ridgewood Restaurant. Upon arrival firefighters found heavy smoke showing from the attic of a 2.5 story wood frame dwelling. The occupant of the home escaped the fire without injury. Firefighters rescued two of the homeowners dogs from the blaze. The fire took about 45 minutes to bring under control. Mutual aid companies from Stanhope, Byram, and Roxbury assisted at the scene and covered at Hopatcong firehouses.

PALMER TWP., PA 4TH ALARM 11 MC FADDEN RD JULY 15, 2011 : At around 11:30 AM Northampton County Communication dispatched Palmer Township firefighters to 11 Mc Fadden Rd. National Plastics on a dumpster fire. Companies reported a working fire with heavy smoke showing and shortly upgraded the assignment to a commerical building fire. Heavy fire involved product and debris outside the building and spread to multiple trailers at the buildings loading dock and extended into the building. Multiple mutual aid departments from through-out Northampton county as well as companies from Lehigh and Bucks County responded to the blaze. CAMDEN, NJ 12-ALARM FIRE at RELIABLE TIRE CHESTNUT AND ORCHARD 6/9/11 : At around 4PM on June 9th Camden firefighters responded to a fire in a vacant block-long tire Warehouse at Chestnut St. and Orchard St. The fire escalated to 12 Alarms and destroyed the entire factory as well as multiple occupied and vacant dwellings. Mutual aid units from all over Camden and Gloucester County assisted in battling the blaze. Police arrived and reported a well involved truck next to a garage. Firefighters responded and used one line to extinguish the fire in minutes. The truck was a total loss however no extension to the garage.

MOONACHIE, NJ 2ND ALARM 6 SIXTH ST 4/4/11 : At around 0655 hours the Moonachie fire department responded to 6 East Sixth St in the Vanguard Mobile Home Park for a reported working house trailer fire with burn victim. Heavy smoke was visible from a distance. Upon arrival the cheif confirmed one trailer fully involved with exposure problems to adjacent trailers. A second alarm was sounded bringing mutual aid from Woodridge, Little Ferry, South Hackensack,and Carlstadt. The fire was knocked down quickly by several handlines. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Detroit, MI Box Alarm 121060 Corbett 3/14/11 : Detroit fire fighters in the 9th battalion responded to 121060 Corbett on a dwelling fire. Upon arrival Engine 50 reported a dwelling going and that they would be stretching. Heavy fire involved the 2nd floor of the dwelling. Companies controlled the fire with 20 minutes.

Upon arrival they found a working fire in a vacant 1.5 story frame dwelling. A quick knock down was made by first arriving companies. Detroit, MI Box Alarm Georgia and Van Dyke 3/11/11 : At around 5:30 A.M. Detroit firefighters responded to a fire in a vacant 2.5 story frame dwelling. Heavy fire conditions raced through the building. Battalion 9 required two additional engines to the scene. Firefighters protected the exposure on the D side of the building. Engines 46, 41, 23, 50, 52 Ladder 16, Squad 3 and Chief 9 worked the scene. **Note** Snowing during the fire - 4 inches of snow fell overnight.

Brooklyn, NY 3rd Alarm Box 1016 325 Troy Ave. 3/1/11 : At around 10:30 A.M. on March 1st Brooklyn Box 1016 was transmitted for a fire in the basement of a laundromat at 325 Troy Ave between Union and President Sts. Upon arrival the 10-75 was transmitted and the fire quickly went to all hands. Firefighters were forced to withdraw from the building due to a partial collapse. A second alarm followed shortly by a 3rd Alarm was transmitted. Heavy fire conditions raced through the 1 story taxpayer. Budd Lake, NJ Multi-Alarm Fire 191 Flanders-Drakestown Rd 2/26/11 : Just after 4 A.M. Mount Olive Police received a call reporting a dwelling fire at 191 Flanders-Drakestown Rd. The Budd Lake and Flanders fire departments responded and upon arrival found heavy smoke showing from the roof area. The dwelling is a 100 year old building that formerly served as a church and the Pax Amicus Theatre in the 70's. Heavy fire spread through the attic area and through the roof. The steeple became heavily involved in fire and eventually collapsed. Firefighters used a defensive attack due to a partial collapse of the roof. Mutual aid units responded to the scene from Netcong, Washington Township, Chester, Roxbury, and the Morris County Western tanker task force. The fire took at least 2 hours to bring under control however units remained on scene for most of the morning extinguishing hot spots and overhauling. The residents of the home escaped without injury. The Mount Olive fire marshall and Police Department are investigating the cause of the blaze. Photos By: Adam Alberti

Flanders, NJ House Fire 27 Tinc Road 2/1/11 : At around 5:30 P.M. Flanders and Budd Lake firefighters responded to 27 Tinc Road on a garage fire. Upon arrival they found heavy fire in the garage of the home and a fully involved car in the driveway. Heavy fire extended into the dwelling and spread rapidly throughout. Mutual aid from Roxbury, Chester, Washington Twp and Netcong responded to the scene to assist Mount Olive units. The fire took about 2 hours to bring under control. Denville NJ House Fire 4 Shawger Road : Denville, NJ firefighters responded to a working house fire at 4 Shawger Rd. Upon arrival they found heavy fire and smoke showing from the 2 story dwelling. Mutual aid was called to the scene from Rockaway Boro for an engine and ladder to the scene. Other mutual aid was provided from Parisppany District 1 and 2 for Rapid Intervention. The fire was knocked down within 20 minutes. The homeowner was transported to the hospital with burns to the head and hands.

South Hackensack, NJ Structure Fire 410 Route 46 Super 8 Motel 1/11/11 : At around 7:30 A.M. on Tuesday January 11, 2011 South Hackensack firefighters responded to the Super 8 Motel at 410 Route 46 on a structure fire. Upon arrival they found several rooms involved in fire on the 2nd floor of the 2 story building. Mutual aid was called to assist from the Little Ferry, Moonachie, Hackensack, and Hasbrouck Heights fire departments. The fire was knocked down within 25 minutes by several handlines and a ladder pipe. An occupant of one of the rooms was transported to the hospital with 3rd degree burns to the head and face. (2) firefighters were also transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The fire may have been caused by drug paraphernalia. Upon arrival units found heavy fire showing from a 1.5 story wood frame dwelling. Firefighters used several handlines to extinguish the fire which gutted the home. The Morris County Western Tanker Task Force was dispatched to the scene however were cancelled as Budd Lake firefighters got a handle on the fire.
