Around 7pm on Saturday December 29, 2007 Rockaway Township firefighters responded to 28 Lake Denmark Rd. after a passer-by reported a house fire. Engine 511 arrived and confirmed a working house fire. Tankers were immediatley called to the scene due to the lack of hydrants in the area. Firefighters used several handlines to control the blaze which was extending in the walls. Rockaway Fire Co's 1, 2, and 3 worked at the scene. Mutual aid tankers and manpower responded from West Milford Co. #2 and Boonton Twp. The fire was under control within 45 minutes. The homeowners were out when the fire began and arrived home to find the fire department on scene. No injuries were reported at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
