CLIFTON, NJ 2ND ALARM 90 RUTHERFORD BLVD 11/12/11
At around 0630 hours the Clifton Fire Department was dispatched to 90 Rutherford Blvd. on a reported structure fire. Upon arrival Clifton Police advised dispatch of a working fire in progress and rescued one occupant from the dwelling. Police advised firefighters of a possible 2nd victim in the dwelling. Engine 4 arrived and stretched an 1.75 inch hoseline in to extinguish the fire on the first floor. When Clifton Ladder 2 arrived a primary search was started and firefighters located and removed the second victim an adult male who was unresponsive. Clifton Fire Department EMS and Paramedics from Monoc worked to revive the man but were unable to. He was pronounced DOA at the scene. The first occupant that was arrested was placed under arrest by Clifton Police for reasons unknown. One Clifton firefighter was also treated at the scene by EMS for minor injuries. The fire was placed under control around 0700 hours. The cause of the blaze is under investigation by the Clifton Police and Fire Prevention Bureau.
