At around 0200 hours on December 25, 2011 Elizabeth, NJ firefighters responded to 446 East Jersey St. after receiving multiple calls reporting a structure fire. Upon arrival companies found heavy fire in a 3 story occupied multiple dwelling. 2nd and 3rd Alarms were transmitted to battle the flames. Mutual aid units assisted at the fire which took almost two hours to bring under control. Multiple master streams, deck guns, a ladder pipe were used to control the blaze. No injuries were reported at the scene and all occupants are believed to have escaped the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
