At around 9:30 P.M. on December 30th Elizabeth firefighters responded to 201 Catherine St. on a structure fire. Upon arrival the found a working fire in a 2.5 story wood frame mixed occupied building. The fire spread rapidly through the structure and escalated to 4 alarms before being brought under control. At least two firefighter suffered burn injuries after becoming trapped in the structure. They were transported to St. Barnabas Burn Center where they were treated and released. Mutual aid from several surrounding towns assisted Elizabeth fire fighters at the scene. The fire was under control at around 2:00 A.M. The cause of the fire is unknown and currently being investigated.
