At approximately 0419 hours Mutual Aid units covering Paterson firehouses while they were operating at a previous multiple alarm fire, responded to 16 Michigan Avenue on a reported house fire. Upon arrival they found heavy fire showing from the attic of a 2.5 story wood frame dwelling with exposure to 18 Michigan Ave. A second alarm was transmitted and Paterson Companies that were made available from the first fire responded to Michigan Ave. An aggressive interior attack was made however heavy fire conditions and a strong wind condition hampered firefighting efforts and units were forced to withdraw from the main fire building. The early morning fire took about an hour to bring under control. No injuries were reported. The occupants of the homes escaped without injury. The Paterson Fire Department Combustibles Unit is investigating the cause of the fire.
