At around 10:30 P.M. on Thursday 12/27 Paterson firefighters responded to 518 East 35th St. off 20th Ave. on a reported fire at Silk City Stone. Upon arrival firefighters found heavy fire conditions in a large commercial building. A second and third alarm was transmitted bringing all Paterson units to the scene. Several explosions occurred in the building and a defensive attack was used to combat the blaze. The fire was placed under control within 2 hours however companies remained on scene into the early morning hours extinguishing hot spots and overhauling. (Note - Access to this fire was difficult for fire companies and nearly impossible for photographers. We arrived at this fire late and could not get many photos.)
