Stanhope, NJ firefighters responded to a reported roof fire at 5 Ridge Rd. Upon arrival they found smoke showing from the roof of a 1.5 story garage attached to a 1.5 story cape cod style dwelling. The fire had run up the rear into the roof and was extending to the ridge pole. Firefighters from Stanhope, Netcong, and Byram opened up and held the fire to the roof of the garage. The home suffered some smoke damage. Firefighters had the fire under control with 30 minutes. No injuries were reported at the scene.
